Not for me: Percy Jackson – Sea of Monsters

on Percy Jackson – Sea of Monsters
Percy Jackson – Sea of Monsters has a strong core idea — the execution mostly works. A couple of sections could have been trimmed without losing anything. If you’re on the fence, try a sample — you’ll know quickly.

Mixed feelings: Six of Crows

on Six of Crows
I went into Six of Crows with pretty normal expectations and it surprised me. There are a few scenes that genuinely hit emotionally. The middle drags and repeats the same tension a bit too long. Not perfect, but it did enough to keep me turning pages.

Really enjoyed: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

on The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
⚠️ Spoilers: minor plot detail mentioned below. I went into The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes with pretty normal expectations and it surprised me. Characters feel distinct, and the dialogue reads naturally. The ending resolves fast compared to how much it builds up. There’s a specific turning point late in the book that changes the tone hard — that moment will make or break it for you. Overall, I’d recommend it to the right reader.

Loved it: To Kill a Mockingbird

Mixed feelings on To Kill a Mockingbird, but I can see why people love it. Characters feel distinct, and the dialogue reads naturally. The middle drags and repeats the same tension a bit too long. Not perfect, but it did enough to keep me turning pages.
